it was revealed he was dealing with a bum wrist which required surgery. The latter injury occurred during the second round of the playoffs against the Anaheim Ducks, presumably from punching Corey Perry in the manhood .

A+.... he has another stanley cup in his back pocket. Regular season stats are overrated to an extent plus he was hurt for like 20 games. If you get to the playoffs, ALL regular season stats get thrown out the window. That's why the stats say regular season stats and post season stats. They are NOT combined

Uo and down, both in the regular season and playoffs, but the biggest thing for me is that Quick is probably one of, if not the best goalies when the pressure is big. When he needed to in the playoffs during those elimination games he came up with huge saves. I'd hope he could become as consistent as Lundqvist, but then it might not be fair for the rest of the league. I'll take the two cups over everything Lundqvist has done any day.

this. when you absolutely need him to steal a game, he does it. leave the regular season accolades to someone else. two cups, a conn smythe and a jennings (albeit with help from the prof and jones) is a pretty good legacy so far. but i keep thinking the injury bug is going to shorten his career at some point.

one thing that always gets mentioned in the playoffs is whether or not he gets "rattled" when he gets run in the crease. he's fiery and fiesty, but i haven't seen evidence that it detracts him from his game over a series.

i gave him a B. have to take the full season into account, but he's the goalie i want in any game 7 situation. still think team usa completely hung out to dry in the bronze medal game.

Team USA was flawed from the start. First, why Lombardi wasn't GM, despite being the most successful American GM is beyond me. Coaching was god awful all tournament long, picking Parise as a captain (likely due to his marketability) was foolish as well. It was a pretty pathetic display that could have been avoided if not for just a few simple changes. Hopefully they learn for 2018...

I give him an 'A-' only because he was a little less awesome than he was when we first won the Cup. He came back from injury and got back on track. One of our teams leaders without question. Most goalie's would have been done after three straight loses in the playoffs, not Quick. I've seen very few netminder's that have the same composure that he demonstrates. He's the reason we have two Cup's, IMO. I know it's a team effort, but Quick was our last line of defense when everything else failed. He's simply the best there is, right now at least. Good article, nice read.

I have to say the team fell apart during the SJ series and not so much Quick. Some of the bounces in the Chicago series were just nuts! He was big when he needed to be and that's what counts. A-

Jonathon Quick is awesome. Kind of streaky at times and I'll never forget when the safety netting scored on him, but who wouldn't want Quick as their starter? He's a top 5 goalie in the league even when he's not playing his best. I see him retiring with two more Stanley Cups under his belt as starter.

His numbers suggest otherwise.

No doubt he makes saves no other human being can make, but he was not consistent last year at all.

Regular season grade C
Games 1-2 of shark series D
From game 3 of the series 1 through the final A+
At the end of the day he wins when the money is on the line. Quick reminds me a lot of Grant Fuhr during the Oilers Great years.

Cant believe he was the 72nd pick that year in the draft.

Seems to be a lot of kvetching about his long term prospects and the big contract....Kings fans know that the occasional WTF ? goal will always be part of his game; the first shot of the 2014 playoffs found him looking for the puck behind the net when it was in fact in front of him and then in the net ! No small irony that 25 games later he was hoisting the Cup.....

There will always be moments of frustration due to Quick's erratic style (I'll admit that for several years I was firmly in favor of forcing Jonathan Bernier into the job), but his rep as a playoff tested goalie cannot be questioned....as far as when his athletic ability begins to wane and injuries take more of a toll, we'll just have to wait and see....
